On December 12, the Blakesley family held a dedication ceremony for the Don and Mary Blakesley Reflection room within the newly opened Andy Yee Palliative Care Unit at Mercy Medical Center. The donation was from funds from the memorial golf tournament hosted since 2022 in Don Blakesley’s memory. The unit provides a comforting and welcoming place for families of loved ones going through cancer treatment, as opposed to spending long hours in a typical sterile and uninviting hospital setting. Don and his wife Mary met working at the hospital in 1969 and it was the start of their long story together.
