PELLEGRINI, SEELEY, RYAN & BLAKESLEY AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO CHILDREN OF AREA LABOR UNION MEMBERS

Area youths receive $5,000 in the name of firm’s founding attorney Gerard Pellegrini

Five area students recently were each awarded a $1,000.00 Gerard L. Pellegrini Scholarship to advance their education by the law firm that bears his name. The Gerard L. Pellegrini Scholarship is awarded annually to a union member affiliated with the Western MA Area Labor Federation or their spouse or dependent. Applicants are asked to submit their high school or college transcripts, written recommendations, a recital of recent community service and an essay discussing how a scholarship would help them to achieve their academic and career goals and to give back to their community and labor union.

“This scholarship provides a yearly opportunity for the firm to show our commitment to helping union members and their families improve their lives through education,” said Earl Seeley III, a partner at the law firm and grandson of Gerard Pellegrini. “My grandfather cared deeply about worker’s rights and fought on behalf of injured workers for over 50 years. He grew up a working-class kid whose life was much improved by education. Having that access to education was so important to him and it’s something he always strived to help others with,” Seeley added.

Winners of this year’s awards are: Ana Pagan of Springfield, Juliana Norgren of Longmeadow, Marco Hiltz of Chicopee, Margaret Sarnacki of East Otis and Ruth Claudio of Springfield.
